Doses of Encouragement
Psalm 33
In this hymn of praise, I am struck by the contrast of the words “new” and “steadfast”. According to Merriam-Webster online, the word “new” has seven definitions, with three clarifying entries. In contrast, the word “steadfast” has two: 1) firmly fixed in place not subject to change, and 2) a firm belief, determination, or adherence.
Psalm 33 plays on some interesting juxtapositions between man and God. Let’s take a look…
Man: Made new through salvation AND continually made new through sanctification.
God: Makes all things new through the steadfast, once-for-all substitutionary sacrifice of the Son AND the real-time power in action of the Holy Spirit.
Man: Receives new mercies.
God: Gives steadfast grace.
Man: Questioning with an unquenchable thirst for answers.
God: Gives counsel that stands forever.
Man: Hoping for help; prone to mistrust; planning our own way.
God: our help and hope; the maker of all that stands firm; deliverer from eternal death; giving the plans of his heart to all generations.
So through it all, let man sing a new song to the Lord for God’s steadfast love is upon us as we hope in him!!

Blessings in Disguise
Have you ever had a blessing in disguise? Our biggest blessings often come disguised in hard times, difficult circumstances, broken relationships, or shattered dreams, but the Bible promises us that He will turn all things good for those who love the Lord. This is the hope believers cling to when the storm is so treacherous that we can’t see the next step. These stories will bring you hope and encourage you to look for your own blessings in disguise.
