Hope Lives

Hope Lives, Then, Now, Forever

Then

What do you know…it is raining again in Southeast Michigan?! The dampness creeps into my muscle and joints reminding me that my body is not where I want it to be. I want to be healed of this rheumatoid. I want to be free of the drudgery of pain. The hovering clouds remind me that my mind is sometimes gray like the day. The heaviness that sits in the air reminds me of the weight of the history of my sinful patterns.

But, God brings the robins for me to see. They are so excited for the cool; grabbing at the worms as if it is the finest feast they have ever had! A delight for their family. He shows me the vibrance of the flowers against a dismal backdrop – refreshed and renewed from their dehydration caused of the wind and sun.

He shows me His light in the distance of this dark and dreary day. He says that “even the darkness is not dark to you; the night is bright as the day, for darkness is as light with you…For with you is the fountain of life; in your light do we see light.” (Psalm 139:12, 36:7-9)

Now

Today, I reach for the renewal that tells me I am not defined by my history but driven toward my destiny (John 8:10-11).

Today, He tells me to look and see that I have everything I need before me and that the Great I AM is my encourager (Psalm 34:17-22; Num. 6:24-26).

Today, He reminds me that He alone gives me the ability to glorify Him in trials and in triumphs (Psalm 89:1-2, 5-9, 11, 15; 1 Corinthians 1:4-9; Deut. 8:1-18).

Today, He says to let His light that is within me shine for His glory because He is our living hope (1 Peter 1:3; Matthew 5:14-16).

Today, He reminds me that I can choose (Joshua 24:15).

Today, I choose to be conformed to Him and transformed by His Word – to be a witness and a light to His good, acceptable, and perfect will! (Romans 12:2)

Today, He knows that I am tired, hurting, and unsure and He raises up my dry bones – refreshes and restores just as He made the Word flesh (John 1:6-16). He says that the Spirit that dwells in me can when I cannot (1 John 3:20-24).

Forever

I believe He will!
